285 17 70 fit with icon stage 1?

Well I settled on Icon Stage 1, getting it installed this week @ MetalTech. I will document the whole thing and post some pics later guys. Now some say go with 265 70 17 (BFG ATs) and others say 285 will fit. No spacers no extra weight, dont want any crazy rubbing. Also why is nobody running 275's?

some run 275-70-17 and some run 265-70-17. The 265's seem to always fit with no rubbing issues. The 275 & 285 tend to need spacers are potentially a body chop (285's). I opted for the 255-75-17 (same diameter as the (275-70-17) but narrower as to alleviate potential rubbing issues. You will find spacers very popular or alternate offset wheels on this chassis to gain room between the UCA's.

Good choice. 285's require quite a bit of clearanc-ing. I had to chop my body mount, pound the pinch weld in fender flat and cut some plastic fender liner out.

I don't think the OP has a shrockworks. And you don't rub your body mount? Do you have UCRs?

Mine rubbed so bad with spidertrax and light racing UCR's that I had to chop most of the body mount off.

UCR= Upper Control Arms they can add to the rubbing, but fix the alignment

I'm assuming he doesn't want to chop his mount, remove flaps, and sledge hammer his pinch weld flat like we had to. That's why I recommend 265's for him.

285s fit on mine with minor fender trimming in the front. I did upgrade the UCAs to Camburg uniballs, and I think that helped reduce the rubbing. When you're fully stuffed in the back you'll rub the mud flaps, but that's an easy fix.
