Hey guys does anyone know if somebody has ever put a 2jz into a 3rd gen before? I have seen it done into a 2nd and 4th gen but never into a 3rd gen. It would defiantly be fun to have a 300hp 4runner :lookout:

What does the 2jz come out of? What's the displacement? Sorry, i guess I could google it. I would love to put a badass motor in my junk.

With enough time, money and know how, you can put anything in it.
If you're going to do the 2JZ swap though, you might as well go all in and do it with Nas too.

Now that's funny. If i ever do a swap it'll be with a V8.
Why not add a supercharger AND a turbo to the 3.4 that's sitting in the bay now?
Could get interesting.........
Or some crazy series sequential with bypass turbo setup.
Probably going to have to relocate a bunch of stuff from the engine compartment to fit piping and intercoolers and such... but hey.... fun challenge?

I've had a supercharged 3.4 before and it was ok. I'll look into the turbo setup but I don't think the 5vz has the potential the 2jz has.

If I ever do an engine swap on this 3rd gen, guaranteed 2JZ-GTE.
Then, figure out how to mate the 6 speed to a transfer case

If a 7mgte fits into a 1st gen runner, I don't see why a 2jz wouldnt fit into a 3rd gen. I don't know about the 2jz, but the 7m even bolts right up to a R-series transmission. You would probably need electric pusher fans since the motor is a lot longer than the stock v6.
:edit: and talk about potential... by the time the ricer scene had played itself out (say, 2002 or so) people had blazed the trail to a reliable 1000 hp with stock internals. Not to say that would do you any good in a truck, but it would be fun to burn through a set of full-tread mud-terrains in two minutes. Sorry, my redneck is showing

A 2JZ is defiantly my dream motor to have in my 4runner. I don't think it will be too hard of a swap since both 4runners and supras use an A340 transmission. Have IPT build a trans that can handle the power and I will be set.

If it can be done with a tacoma, it can be done with a 4runner. The engine bay is pretty much identical.
