2nd Gen 1995 No acceleration with load on motor

I recently bought a 1995 4runner 2WD, 3.0. When I drive it it goes through the gears but has no acceleration or power. Takes almost a mile to get to 50mph. Took off the cat, checked the timing, replaced a couple sensors and still nothing. When it is park or neutral it runs fine. Also had a compression test for the fuel pump. Runs rich, really strong gas smell and has been using a crazy amount of gas. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, don't know which way to go from here and dealer wants crazy amount just to look at it.

Do you have good compression on all cylinders? Are they all firing? Any vacuum leaks? What about the O2 sensors, did you change them? Is your air filter clean?

Check your spark plugs and wires. If you do not have OEM Denso or NGK, get them! Yesterday! Cheap after market plugs and wires from your local parts store do not work well with the 3.0.

Like KidV said, check all the vacuum lines in your engine bay. Another thought may be to swap out you AFM (MAF) unit with one from a junkyard ($15) and see if there is a difference.

Is your check engine light working. If it lights up before starting then it is working if not might want to fix that so you can try and pull the codes might be the knock Sensor (KS) sounds like it might be going in to Limp mode this is how mine was acting after I did my motor swap the KS was not getting and good Connection.
