I hear you, just don't like the look of some ABS fittings from home Depot or Lowe's hanging ofF the truck.

One of my buddies with a 3rd gen said there is a tool to rent that you can use to heat and bend PVC pipe so you could make a once piece snorkel out of PVC or ABS. I told him id split the cost and we could have a snorkel party.
 
Check out "Lost-Foam casting Method".
You shape a piece of foam to look like snorkel exactly how you want it, build Fiberglas or carbon fiber snorkel around it, dissolve foam with acetone when you're done. Beauty!

Im totally going to try this if it works good im going to make a cold air intake for my e36 as well. I found sheets of carbon fiber and the epoxy resin online. It's not expensive at all.
