2nd Gen Sunroof Controls

I'm trying to figure out what that black thing that looks like a switch, but in reality does nothing, is / was / or was supposed to be. It's in the "close" label, but even with the sunroof fully retracted, it does nothing. Anyone know what it does?

And what is this holder for holding?

And does anyone know where to go to get the piece missing here:

I'll clean the damned thing tomorrow. =]

the small little button is a safety switch. if its all working properly, you have to hold in the little button while holding the close switch in order to close the sunroof.

and that other thing... its actualy a cover for the manual override on the sunroof. theres a special tool you stick in there so if your sunroof bites the dust while open, you can crank it closed.

it also holds business cards well.

My 4runner has the same setup and the little button, if it's working, should be pushed along with the switch to close the sunroof. I assume that it's like that to make it harder for kids to close the sunroof when their head is sticking out.

The little flip down panel is also perfect for my bridge toll card or a parking card or any other type card that you would need to use.

I'd check at the scrap yard to find the piece that's missing from your shifter.

Thanks! This 4Runner year, for whatever reason, is almost impossible to find in a yard where I live. They go as soon as they come, said the owner of one yard I talked to.
