Was wiring up a mod to pop the rear hatch and lock/unlock and roll up and down the rear window today. At some point I was able to do all of that using the new wires that I connected. But then I got myself into a state where I don’t seem to be able to initialize the rear window anymore.
Here’s what works:
• Roll the rear window up and down by pressing and holding the button on the dash
• Lock and unlock the 4Runner using the key on the hatch or the driver’s door
• Open and close the hatch normally
Here’s what doesn’t work:
• Auto-up and auto-down no longer works on the rear window
• Rear window wiper doesn’t wipe
• Rear window defroster doesn’t come on when I push that button
• Cannot lower or raise the rear window using the key on the rear hatch
• Window down button on the remote causes the car to beep, but window does not go down
Things I’ve tried:
• Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for an hour or so, then reconnect
• Pull the ECU-B fuse for about 10 seconds or more, replace it and lock & unlock using the driver power door lock switch
• Using the switch on the dash, fully lowering the rear window, keep pushing the window down button for a couple of seconds, the fully bringing it back up again and keep pushing the window up button for a couple of seconds after the window is closed. All with the ignition in the On position
• Verified the doors are closed and the power window lock-out button is not pressed
• Tested the wiring I added, one of them pops the latch when grounded, another one locks the car and the third unlocks it. I disconnected the wires for good measure to make sure they were not causing problems.
• Inspected existing wiring in the hatch, nothing looks out of the ordinary
• Searched this forum…
At one point in the process I was able to lower and raise the window using the wiring that I added, but noticed that my wiring was preventing the window from fully lowering. So I raised the window and secured the wiring so that it would no longer interfere. I believe it is after this that I am no longer able to initialize the rear window.
Any ideas what I broke?
