My newly acquired 2000 Limited 3.4L V6 2WD is apparently in need of new front strut assemblies, seeing as how the shocks are shot, the front springs sag a bit and the bushings are worn to the point where the front end knocks at random intervals as a result. I've had it checked out by a professional shop and they agree that these are the culprits. Due to past poor experiences, I'd like to avoid the Gabriel and Monroe "QuickStrut" type packages and put together my own assemblies off the car so I can just swap them in. I've already settled on the Bilstein 4600s for the shock part, but I have questions. I did search first but either I didn't find results or was confused by what I found.
1. I looked at getting OEM Toyota springs since the original set lasted 211K, but from what I can see, the original driver's side spring is not currently available (48131-35310). Since that's not an option, what are the Moog 81092s like? These seemed to be the only complete non-lift spring sets I could find for the 2WD truck. Are there any others out there that would work better?
2. If I get the Bilstein shocks, the Moog springs and say KYB or Sachs strut mounts, are there any other parts I'd need to be able to assemble these components into a ready to install assembly? Screws, bolts, anything like that?
