30-40 and 65-75mph cyclical moan

so i have this cyclical moan, i can feel and slightly hear it between 30-40 mph and between 65-75 mph seems worst around 67mph

it tends to be a moan and slight gas peddle vibration, no steering wheel shake at all, almost like a harmonic moan at 1 sec. intervals

driving me crazy, cause it's steady as a rock at 50 mph, below 30 mph and above 72mph

I do need and stab bar end link which I am replacing, i'm gonna try rotating the tires (prob to no avail)

any ideas? I had new tires put on but i have no steering wheel shake, could it be balancing?

so i sort of have the same problem but no shaking and it starts at 1mph lol...hopefully its some kind of bearing in the driveline...ive been looking to grease everything up but my drivelines are all sealed up i guess.

can anyone tell me if there have been problems with input and output shaft bearing problems from the diff or transmission?

i changed out the front bearings and still sounds the same...could be rear i suppose but when it was on the lift i put it in drive and listened and it was coming from the driveline but the sound could be from anywhere and just traveling up the shaft.
 
SureShot, I'm going with wheel bearings. Have they been replaced?

Mine produced similar symptoms, and the fronts made noise in the lower range And the rear was higher speed. Speed ranges were similar for mine.

Can you get the sound to change by swaying the truck left and right a bit while driving? This may help isolate the noise to a side. It

no the sound does not change when i sway from side to side and the steering wheel does not shake at all...however the sound gets louder as there is throttle but when i let off of the gas the sound dies down which is why i think its the drive shaft bearings.

The sound that I have is only evident under constant throttle, like with the cruise control engaged on a flat stretch of highway. As soon as I step on the gas or let off the gas, it goes away.
 
Mine starts at exactly 63mph and stops around 71mph it happens in cruise control, foot on gas without cruise, and when you let off the gas as it passes that speed range

if i put it in 4th gear it will start once it hits the same 63mph even though RPM's are now higher, you can feel it ever so slightly in the gas peddle and it's a very tight/close feeling vibration/pulse and with the windows up and radio off sounds like a subtle "womp.... womp.....womp.....womp"
 
Just had my driver side bearing replaced at 48k. Had the same noise going 45-55 mph and then again at 65+. It was covered by the certified warranty so I paid nothing. Noise Went away after it was replaced. There is a vendor here that sells bearings or you can try bluepitbearings.com

Hey guys just found out that my car is moaning and making this whine from the rear diff...tech said its the bearings going out so he recommends replacing the entire diff.

so im just curios to how long it would take for me to buy the diff and put it in myself...the dealership wanted $2400

also hopefully once i change this i dont get any more noise but the tech said that the noise was so loud from the diff that its hard to tell if there are any other noise lol. but it would suck if i got it replaced and the noise was still there lol.
 
If the noise changes with throttle input than most likely it is the rear diff ive had to rebuilda few on the 4th gens for that same reason. You could prob swap it out in your driveway with basic tools in about 2 hrsif youve never done it before. Its pretty straight forward and simple

thanks...and the tech said most likely the ring gear and all that would have to be changed so its just better to buy the entire rear diff and swap it out...however looking for just the diff its hard to find for the v6 but ive found a lot for the v8

does the v8 rear axle assembly fit the v6? and if it does mine is 4x2 so would a 4x4 work for mine? i dont really care much for different ratios as i dont use this car but for only highway and city driving.
 
Best not worry about wheel bearings, they wouldn't be at "specific" speeds. I had this issue with my Lexus and it was tires. Even though they had been rotated correctly and often they still wore in an odd manor. They mad noises as specific speeds. They can even do it at 5-6mm when dealers or most people suggest changing at 4mm. Assess your tire wear before going any further.

The noise was there before and after my tire change. ..I changed tires about 100 miles ago so I'm sure it's not the tires. I went to the dealership and they are the ones that said it was the diff.

plus I had it up on a lift and put it in drive and heard the noise in the drivetrain but the noise can resonate all The way up it.

The noise is constant and starts from 1mph and only gets faster to almost a solid medium pitched sound when I'm above 70mph.
