35's can and have been done. It does take some special compensation, but it can be done with a "standard" 3" lift. A 1" body mount helps. I plan to go to a 34" tire with my next tire without a body mount lift.
It will require a 3" lift and aftermarket UCA's and a body mount chop, and possibly some pounding of the fender seam in the fender well and a body lift, but it has successfully been done. My son is running 35's on his 4th Gen with less rubbing than my 5th Gen on 33's with a 2" lift, UCA's and body mount chop. I'm running 4.5 degrees of castor and rubbing the fender flair. He's running slightly less castor with no rubbing at all.
