3rd Gen 4 cylinders?

Hey guys, I'm searching for a 3rd gen under $5,000 to use has a daily driver. Every once in a while I will come across a nice 4 banger for a decent price. I won't be off roading and I live in Houston, so hills aren't a problem. Does it have enough usable power to get by, I mainly am concerned with passing people on the highway, etc.

Also, what kind of real MPG does the 2.7L get?

Anyway here is the one I like, would those big tires hurt the fuel economy?

I would definetly try and find one with a manual transmission, it will make a big difference. As far as the mpg im sure it is capable of 22. I usually average about 18 to 19 with 32in tires and the 5 speed.

2.7's are a great engine. I had one in my old Tacoma and my only gripe was on windy days on the highway. Then again, mine was a 5 speed so I was always able to shift it into 4th when I needed to push it. Had to give it up at 285k miles. Still kinda miss it.
