3rd gen 4runner or Xterra

Nissan Xterra's had some major problems from 2005-07 and Nissan wouldn't even do a recall. The tranny and cooling system catastrophically failed on a lot of them. The radiator would cause the tranny to fail causing thousands in damage. I love Japanese quality, but the Xterra just isn't as solid as a 4runner.

I was dead set on buying an Xterra before I bought my '01 4runner, and I'm very happy with the decision I made.

Get the 4runner, and don't look back.

Xterra's don't flex as well because of the torsion bars, I am very familiar with this because of owning mostly all GM trucks. But depending on how the Xterra's torsion keys are index you can get 1-2" of lift for absolutely free by tightening the bolts, sometimes even more lift than that. But it comes at the price of ball joints and other hard parts since you are basically driving your truck around with the suspension at full droop.
