3rd gen bug deflector

I know you guys just did a 4th gen thread, but I would like some 3rd gen opinions.

My main concern is the rock chips on the leading edge of my hood. Maybe there is a better idea than a deflector.

IMO, vinyl = ugly. Also, it's my understanding that if you let vinyl bras get wet and leave them on your car you will ruin your clearcoat. I'd look into the 3m Scotchguard film or a similar product. From the 3m website:
