3rd gen capabilities?

I own a 1990 V6 4x4, and I really like this truck, since owning it I have learned it isnt as capable as I had thought, I am just wondering some things

Apparently the 5VZFE engine gets quite better gas mileage? what gas mileage do you guys usually hit in your 3rd gens?

and while my 2nd gen is limited to about 3k lbs of towing, I hear the 3rd gens can tow quite a bit more? like car on trailer capabilities

and that the 3rd gens are bigger inside? I have been really wondering about 3rd row seating, while there are aftermarket seating available.

Given everything I have been looking into what to move on to in the next SUV, I want 3rd row seating as an option for when it arises, for the kids the 3rd row seating in the 4runner should be easily enough,

or should I look into the Sequoia? Is the Sequoia worth looking into? I don't hear much about them, something like a 2001 Limited 4R against a 2001 Sequoia, which would come out on top in Gas Mileage, power and handling?

I get about 14-15mpg city/highway combined. Highway is like 19 at best.

3rd Gens are rated to 5000 lb towing. So yes a little bit more than your 2nd gen.

The 3rd Gen 4runner doesn't have a 3rd row seat. You would need to look into a Land Cruiser or Sequoia in that case.

Yeah, I pretty much get about the 17/19 it's rated at. If the 3rd row is a big deal to you, then don't even bother looking at the 4runner, sequoia or LC is the way to go. 1 or 2 companies do make a 3rd row seat for the 4runner, but not many people have installed them, and there is some difficulty in terms of properly mounting it to the frame, and getting structural mounting points for the seat belts. All in all, not a great solution for kids...
