3rd Gen Manual Climate Control Issue

I need help with an issue on the climate controller in my 2002 4runner with manual climate control. There is no auto button.

When I’m running the heat, everything works fine and then randomly it will start blowing cold air. If I cycle the temperature knob back-and-forth a couple of times, it will go back to blowing warm air. The same thing happens when I run the air conditioner. The AC works fine and then all of a sudden it will start blowing warm air. If I turn the temperature knob back-and-forth a few times, it will go back to blowing cold air. I have the manual climate controller.

I see several people have made repairs to the automatic climate controller, but I’m not sure if that applies to the manual climate controller. Any suggestions on what might be going on? I am thinking I just need to replace the climate controller, but I’d like to see if anybody else has ran into this. Not sure if it could also be a blend door servo. I feel like that's the 2 choices, but how can you make that determination without just replacing them and hoping for the best?

I would think if yours is manual and not the picky automatic climate control, then I would lean toward a blend door acting up.
2001 2002 are slightly different on many things, and I have never had to mess with climate control on newer than 2000. I know the controls are slightly different looking, dont know on function. My repair manuals only go to 2000 for the 4runners.
I do know that my 2002 tundra has a manual control panel and it does work different

If that was the case....would it be the servo freaking out ?
