3rd gen owner curious what most desirable 4th gen is?

Obviously opinions will vary but it there a most sought after 4th gen?

I know with the 3rd gens there are certain models/options that people look for, but I'm curious about the equivalent of that in a 4th gen?

Hands down 2009 Trailedition. Then 2006-09 Sport or Limited. It all depends what you want to use it for. Urbanrunner and Limited are great for street use. Sport and SR5 are great for offroad.

More power, more room, better stereo, more comfort IMO. Other than that their both just about the same.

I've had both a 3rd & 4th gen so I'm not Biased against one of them.

I am going to say a 2008, and then you can pick whatever trim you want, and even throw in the debatable engine. VSC/ATRAC MOD guys don't have to do much to worry about with the onboard safety computer and push buttons. 2006 and above you have the much better LED tail lights instead of the stupid Pinkies from 03-05. Projector Headlights too. They also got rid of the rear aux tail lights that didn't get hooked up on USA vehicles. I do like it when people here mod them to work but if they aren't being used, it really just pisses me off. Oh yeah and the Nerf Bars and Tube Steps for Sports Editions.

The interior changes they made to the 2009's I'm just not a fan of and so back to the question, my choice of best year is 2008. If you want me to be more specific, 2008 V8 4x4 Sport Shadow Mica is what I would leave my current 4runner for without hesitation...

I know I'm probably biased but I thought the '03s with the cladding was awesome. Add in the V8 and it's even better. I think the sport editions are the best looking with the hood scoop.

I disagree withe the trail edition hype, especially only if its
due to it being rare. I have both an 03 and 08 V8 Sport Edition, and ill always go with the 03 w/ the textured grey cladding, with the 08 a close but distinct 2nd.

Love my 03!

Trail Editions are ultra rare. Urban Runners and X-SP are eye catching versions that you don't see every day. Oh, I also saw the other day that a member posted a pic of an 03' SR5 with the plastic cladding in that dark green color. I'm sure that is pretty rare, though not my style.

I'm with Mr. Banks on this one though, if I found a V8 SE in Shadow Mica for the right price, I'd probably buy it in a heartbeat.

06-09 Limiteds. They've got everything the sr5s and Sport Editions have, and then more upgrades. V8 is optional, and i wish i had 4x4... Freaking love the JBL sound system in my 06 Limited though, it's perfect. LED tails and projector housings add to the looks, and leather inside adds to comfort.

I'm surprised people like the ones with the grey cladding. Personally I find those the least desirable in appearance.

Not a fan of the grey cladding. I vote for anything 2005 and above with the V8 and 4x4. The Trail edition is primo though...due to the offroad extras, obviously.

Definitely 06+ V8 in black, I wish I had a black 4Runner but still love mine.

One thing to be cautious of is if you're into lifting your 4Runners and the whole offroad scene you'll probably want to avoid the 4Runners equiped with the rear air suspension, it just seems to get in the way.
