Top of the lift gate. You can use rivnuts to install if you're 4R didn't come with one from the factory.

Absolutely correct. I actually bought ugamurph's a few weeks back and installed it using rivets. I didn't have the template. Simply line it up (have a second pair of eyes), drill three holes on each side, rivet and done. It took me less than 25 minutes to install. A fresh coat of paint later...looks good and functions great (I live in the country on a dirt road).
