3rd Gen Remote Starter

Hey Fellas (and ladies)
I am interested in a remote stater for my '01 SR5. It seems the top choice of members is a Compustar... I am unfamiliar with starters and would like opinions. I know there are some starters that roll your windows down or open your sunroof or rear window... Others have two way paging systems, which I would really like... Anyone's input would be appreciated as it gets deeper into the cold season of NY. I am not partial to any brand and would like as much feedback as I can get. The truck doesn't have an alarm, just the remote unlocking and locking keyfob... Would I need any modules to override this? And does anyone know a good install book or do they come with decent instructions? Thanks everyone!

I have a Compustar RF2W900 on my Honda Civic. Definitely overkill, for sure. I personally, don't need or desire half of the available features, but if you like to have all the bells and whistles, go for it. Solid, reliable system, my only complaint is that the LCD on one of my remotes is all jacked after dropping my keys a few times. A replacement fob is around $80-$90 if I remember correctly. Also, it would probably be better to pay to have it installed unless you really know what you're doing. That way, you can hold someone else liable if you start experiencing battery drain issues or other problems

i got a viper alarm system with remote start, i love it but im selling it for 400 ha if anyone wants it, seems viper makes an auto start on the iphone i want that

I have a Viper 791 XV, its very similar to most of their alarms.

Im Running a Viper 5901 Two Way and love it! I can't vouch for the Compustar Manuals but the viper install book only gives tells you what the wiring is for the brain you have to find the wire colors of the vehicle elsewhere. I use the12volt.com when I need diagrams I know they have one for your year because I have an 01' as well.

Your truck does have an alarm just not a very good one, also you will need an ignition bypass in order for the remote start to work.
