I love the concept but don't care for the route they took to achieve it. I am very curious if it has a removable hard top. Looks like a great beach toy!
 
Tastefully done, unique-ish. Not my style and I certainly would have chosen a 4wd v6 platform to do the mod to, but I can respect it.
 
To my recollection there is not a top to this... I agree, some one should build this! Wish it were closer, I'd love to have it in a v6 5spd 4x4!

I will say this, if it were a little cheaper it would be a good candidate for a 4wd conversion with solid axle and new motor. That's if the chop isn't a complete hack job.

Isnt this how Cali guys offroad. RWD, as much lift and wide tire as possible and just floor it down the beach?

Why do you think your area is so unique? We have all that, and beaches too, not that I would ever want to go to the beach but they seem pretty popular.

It's cheaper to buy a 1st Gen 4Runner with manual hubs and 4x4 and swap in a 5VE-FE (well documented and easy motor swap) and you've got a rock solid truck that will last forever and can do anything off-road.

My 1st gen is manual with the locking hubs and the 3.0L 6 cylinder. It's significantly quicker than my 3rd gen believe it or not. That's mainly due to its small tires and low gearing. But, I can power hop the front tires off the ground in 1st gear. It's more fun than a barrel full of beavers

People hate that 3VZ so much, but that is my preferred 1st gen configuration. 3VZ+R150F 1st gens FTW.

Yeah I've read mixed opinions about it. But I think the main issue was the head gasket? Beyond that it's a very reliable engine if properly maintained. The previous owner had the top end rebuilt along with the clutch at 160k miles. Now I'm at 210k and the engine and clutch are fantastic. I'm surprised at how quick and smooth it goes being almost 28 years old. I wouldn't want the decreased power of the 22re
