Yeah I've read mixed opinions about it. But I think the main issue was the head gasket? Beyond that it's a very reliable engine if properly maintained. The previous owner had the top end rebuilt along with the clutch at 160k miles. Now I'm at 210k and the engine and clutch are fantastic. I'm surprised at how quick and smooth it goes being almost 28 years old. I wouldn't want the decreased power of the 22re

Well it is called the 3.Slow. And at least you don't expect power from a 22RE, but you do expect it to run forever, and it does.

Want to see pics with its custom top on. If it was well done 3400 isn't a bad price. Pull the motor and do the gasket. Swap in a 4x4 w59 and call it a day. You might get to 6k total cost.

If the top is a crap job run away. There's no fixing that.

Toyota needs to make a replacement for the fj cruiser with a removable hardtop like the 1st gen 4runner. Vehicles are too bland these days.

I have to say I kinda dig it. Not sure why you would do it to a 2wd 4 cylinder though.

I love the concept but don't care for the route they took to achieve it. I am very curious if it has a removable hard top. Looks like a great beach toy!

I'm sure it does, or else why leave the wiper on the liftgate?
