I've had my '00 Limited (V6 auto, 4wd, factory e-locker) for just a few weeks now. It has 175k miles and I've only put 800 on it. Today I noticed a fairly loud (but not too loud) metallic sound coming from what seems to be the transmission. I have very little knowledge on this subject and am looking for any help I can get. It happens whenever I'm on the gas while in gear. Happens in every gear including reverse but not while in park/neutral. It sounds like something is spinning and has come loose; two metal parts rubbing against each other. I'll try to answer any other questions you could have. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you lubed your driveshaft? I had a similar sounding issue, traced the noise to the double cardan joint. Lubed it and no more noise!
If that is not it, I would suggest taking a cheap digital recorder and taping some magnets (strong ones, like neodymiums) to it, and sticking it at various places under the vehicle. Drive it around the block, listen to the recording, move it around until you pinpoint the noise.
