3rd Time's a Charm

Hi, since I posted on another thread I figured maybe I should also post here and introduce myself!

I'm from Arizona (Central area) and have just purchased my 3rd 4Runner. I've owned a 1986 that I traded in at 199k for a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was also a great truck.

I've owned a 2004 4Runner that I purchased new and then traded in on a new 2009 Dodge Challenger, which was a huge mistake and I regretted it almost every day of the last 5 years.

Finally, I traded in the Challenger for a 2008 SR5 4WD and I feel like I just came home again.

I love this truck!

The Dodge was a vehicle you lusted for and once you got it, what the hell did I do? The fit and finish is not like a Toyota. Reliability is world's apart.

It's a lesson learned lol. You back in a great vehicle.

I'll work on pics and no plans for mods. I just want to learn how to use the 4WD and keep it maintained.

I'm just happy I found the truck I wanted! (Well, I didn't need the 4WD, but, my husband will enjoy it!)

Oh, you have no idea about that Dodge. Yes, it was beautiful, it was fast, and I didn't have one second's worth of trouble out of the engine or transmission. It was exactly the fit and finish. I had that car in to the dealership 54 times in 5 years to replace window motors, a/c troubles, rubber linings, oil leaks (technicians' fault), they broke the air cleaner housing, they broke the framing around the window installing the alarm, they replaced the brake light in the rear window, they replaced the headliner which never looked right. I can't go on.

Chrysler took responsibility for nearly everything, but, they didn't reimburse me for time, mileage, or wear and tear on the vehicle. Probably about 4,000 miles on that car were back and forth to the dealership.

You couldn't GIVE me another Dodge!

I'm so happy to be back in a 4Runner (4th gen). I'm not too keen on the 2010's and forward.

i see this all too often in my shop with domestic vehicles.

for instance, 1998 expedition with 165k, it needs new door latches, trans shifting funny cant go over 45mph, leather all tore up, the list goes on and on. yet take a comparable 4runner with those miles. if its a one owner, they would probably tell you all they did was gas, oil changes and tires and everything still works!

i love my domestics for the raw power but its fit and finish for me that nickles and dimes me and kills it for me.

what are you plans this time around?

Not to trade this one in on another $40,000 mistake! Lol!

Probably keep it forever, I've learned my lesson.

When this one's paid off, which shouldn't take too long, my husband gets his new Tundra. He has a 2007 5.7L SR5 and we LOVE that truck. It's finally showing wear and tear 7 1/2 years and 3 teenage boys later and he has about 135k on it and it's as strong as ever. I can honestly say its engine is as good or possibly better than that Hemi I had in my Challenger.

I want to upgrade the radio in the 4Runner, I've been spoiled with the satellite radio that was in the Dodge.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to NOT going to the dealership once a month with the next problem. :banana:
