Greetings all. I, like many of you, had been driving around with a CEL and all it's accompaniment for a while now due to worn out catalytic converters. When it came time to finally fix it I was faced with the dilemma of choosing between price and quality, and of course I did not want to spend a lot of money but I also did not want to deal with the potential issues of using cheap parts. So I endeavored to make my repair be cheap with quality parts.
To achieve this I removed the exhaust manifolds and had a metal fabrication shop cut out the old catalyst and weld in new Magnaflow OEM grade universal fit catalyst. This allowed me to have a known good quality manifold that fit perfectly and a high quality catalyst that I shouldn't have to worry about failing in a year or two. The parts cost for this repair was $600 to do both manifolds. A more detailed write up to follow.
