4 Wheel Lo light problem 2004 4 runner

Hey everyone:

Newbie here. So we just had a snow storm. I went to put it in 4 wheel low using the normal process and the 4 wheel low light won't stop blinking and if I try to put it in drive it beeps. I tried it a few times shut the car off etc and no dice. Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to drive it if I should not.

I put mine in 4lo a few days ago...it took like 2-3 minutes for it to engage. You can try putting it in 4hi, moving forward a little bit and seeing if that will line up the drive shaft(incorrect terminology) better to help it engage faster. There is a sticky thread here about helping to engage 4wheel drive. It has helped me tremendously in getting a speedy 4hi shift.

Were you in neutral? 4-lo unlike 4-hi, requires you to be completely stopped and in neutral. 4-hi, you can be moving to engage it. When the light blinks continuously and beeps, you're not engaged in 4-lo.

Yes I was in neutral...if I'm who you are talking to. IS 2-3mins substantially longer than what it takes for you to engage into 4lo?

4hi for me is almost always instantly, although sometimes I do have to use the tricks posted.
