4Hi not working.

Id assume to stop from bumping the shifter out of 4hi and into neutral accidentally? In the picture mine is pretty bent, would you suggest just leaving it out for the time being while a get a new one? I looked online for quite a while, I could not find a part number on that spring anywhere, you wouldn’t have a part number would you?
PN should be: 36349-35010, SPRING, TRANSFER SELECT RETURN

It looks to be the same for most/all of the j-shift cases (conceivably different for the forward shift case. You can probably bend it back into shape.

And yeah, it is probably mostly for safety. You can easily hit neutral when you are trying to go back to 2WD if you don't have that spring in there.

So I removed that bent spring thing, reinstalled my knob and now my front driveshaft is locked when my tcase is in the 4hi position! However my dash light doesnt come on.

What is this spring thing? And do I need it? When I pulled the boot, it was just sitting in there....

Hello, I know this is an old post, but I have the exact issue where my T-case doesn't have a 4hi position and is bouncing straight to 4lo. when in 4 low it goes into low gear but the 4WD light isn't on and the front driveshaft isn't engaged. I can't see any of your photos, but did you end up getting 4HI fixed and if so, how? If you still have the photos laying around and can send them that would be a godsend.

I'm thinking it's a combination of things with the Jshifter and the vsv since the Jshifter is working to put it in low gear, just not 4wd. If you can help with the 4hi situation though I'd love to know what you did. Was it the wrong linkage position like the youtube video or just the spring that got it back into 4hi? Going to chase the Jshifter fix first, then the VSV. Thanks!
