4LO issues, 4HI engages fine = dealership couldnt fix

After 2 days in the shop Toyota replaced ABS Actuator along w/ computer assy. under warranty ($2400 w/labor) for those who are going to ask. They mentioned that this did not solve anything and they would be speaking w/ Toyota on how to fix this problem. I got some new components for free tech speaking but sucks that 4LO doesnt work.:AK47:.....i still have 40,000mi for warranty coverage...

4HI works fine, this afternoon I cycled 4HI to 4LO for 1 hour trying to engage 4LO. just about tried every technique in the book and yes i am doing it properly by having in in Neutral. I even let off the pedal w/ a slight grade to help align the gears both front/back end.

Im sure others have had this same issue but want to know if anyone has resolved it and what was done? I read somewhere that perhaps it could be the neutral safety switch but wouldnt that at the same time not be engaging 4HI.
What do u guys think?

It sounds like you're doing everything right on your 06 v6 4wd. I think you may have have an actuator issue. If the N safety switch was bad I would expect it to beep when you selected 4lo. The other test would be: can you start the vehicle in N? If so and you have have no beeping I'd guess the N safety switch to be good.

When i switch to 4LO there is a beeping noise from far far away while in neutral and if i shift into drive or reverse then thats when you hear it from within the cabin area, secondly the 4LO light keeps blinking meaning that is not engage.

Yes, i can start the T4R in N without any beeping.... thanks

GREAT NEWS! about 4 months later I decieded to try to engage 4LO again and it gear'd in:gun6:

Not sure what helped it out or why it dialed in.

I did do some wheeling around the area with some steep grades before. Perhaps running 4HI on some trail systems might of knocked something in place but thats just an assumption. Its been working great ever since and exercise it at least once a month to keep it from freezing etc....
