4Runner Doesn't Like The Cold?

It's been really cold in CO these last couple of months and my 4runner doesn't like it apparently. It struggles to start and if it's been sitting over night it barely moves for the first minute or so. Anyone else have this problem or know of any solutions? I didn't do this last year and my old Tacoma never did this over the 4 year span that I had it.

What do you mean "it barely moves"?? Problems with the throttle? Could be a dirty Idle Air Control valve or Throttle Body butterfly valve.

when i give it gas it feels like im pulling a semi or something, but only for about 30 seconds to a minute. the engine revs just fine but its almost like something is slipping but there's no noise accompanied with it. And it only does it in sub-freezing temperatures. Ive already checked every part of my throttle body so I know that it cant be the problem.

I suppose it goes without saying that you should probably warn the truck up for a few minutes when it is really cold?
You can expect a few issues when all of your fluids are cold and slow. Your tranny will not preform correctly when super cold. I noticed the same things on my truck (which seem to get worse as the truck is "maturing"). I have been good lately at letting the rig warm for 5+ minutes or so before driving away and I haven't had a problem since.

You're probably right. Every time I've let it warm up before driving away it hasn't done it, so ill try to make that more of a habbit. It still weirds me out though.

Pretty common, mine did that last winter and I did a DIY trans fluid flush and filter change cuz it was looking pretty dirty and it hasn't done it since even in snowy weather. I think my trans didn't like the old fluid when it was cold. If it's time for a service, I say try that.

Warm it up. Last winter mine went through the same thing and because of my impatience my transmission became screwed up and had to install a new one. Part of it might have been the losers at Jiffy Lube who did the tranny fluid change a few months before it happend :nonopart of the reason why i do everything myself now) It was weird, The reverse slot was neutral, and the neutral slot was forward, and it didn't go in reverse at all.
