Hello, I recently bought a 1997 SR5 4runner 4wd, 5 speed, 3.4L
I put my sound system in the back with an isolated battery as well. I plan on adding ARB bumpers front and back down the road. It is my daily driver but I want the capability of taking it off-road as well. I am leaning towards Toytech's BOSS complete lift kit.

For the front I think the standard 600lb red coils will be best.

My question is if I go with this kit would I be best off with the OME 891 coils, or the 890 coils in the rear. I would think with the added weight in the rear I should go with the 891's?

For the rear shocks I think the bilstein 5125's would be good based on peoples opinions I've been reading in other threads. Any difference of opinions here?

So this is my added weight in the rear, it is 200lb all together. Is that enough weight to justify going with the ome 891's or should I stick to the 890 because it's not quite 300lb extra. any input would be helpful, thanks.

Also, as a daily driver should I save up for the LR upper control arms the package has as an option?

I would go with the softer coils. I have about the same setup for weight in my trunk, and they were plenty stiff enough for me.

What about piecing together a lift. That's what I did and got a much better lift for the money!

It was right around a grand. I found some king coil overs in the classified section here and then bought toytec super flex coils. Then just basic land cruiser shocks from auto parts store.


When you start looking you will see the differences from a true quality parts compared to the Billy's Shocks in the boss kit. But I've got 600 lbs coils with a tube bumper and love how they ride.

I went with the ToyTec BOSS complete lift kit. I have the standard 600 lb coils, Toytec superflex real coils, Bilstein 5100 shocks, upper control arms, panhard drop bar, front dif drop kit, and the extended rear break line. My mechanic wants to do it, but it is really hard to find time with him. Is there any one near San Jose, CA that has tools and a place that would be willing to help me out? I have been checking out different shops around here and most want $500-$700 for the installation and alignment. Any one willing to help me out for less than that or have any shop recommendations? Thanks.
