4runner owner, Highlander Limited Platinum v Acadia Denali questions

Her Highlander drives really nice. Funny as I just drove it a couple nights ago for the 2nd time. I need to check her air pressure because they seemed a little over inflated. We have only had it for a couple of weeks, and I am super busy with work or I would have done it already. It is really nice though, I cant say enough good things about it compared to the Acadia.
I do prefer my 4runner though, it is just more me. My 4runner drives like a dream, I personally prefer it to the Highlander.
Just so you know, the Highlander has power lumbar support. It has wonderful lumbar support if you want it.
That is one lame salesman. My wife has a XLE and hers has power lumbar support.

I bought a 2015 Highlander. Love it. Handles great, has some good getup and go and so far is just an amazing car. My wifes Prius lease was up and she wanted a Rav4. I persuaded her to test drive my highlander. Long Story short is she now owns the Highlander and I picked up a 4Runner, which I really dig so far. Get a highlander. Fantastic vehicle.

Who's paying for it?
It will be "the" family car. I do most of the driving. She's putting the down payment of $5 to 8k and I'll be paying for insurance and payments.
I can't take the size of the small wheels on such a bubbly looking thing of the Pilot.
We test drove both and I felt way more connected to the 4runner. She liked the smoothness of the Pilot. I like the tech stuff from the Pilot, I can't stand that it's made in USA though.
They both cost around the same... I need to decide before end of the summer.
Not sure what other vehicles y'all have in the family. When it's not being used as a family car, who will drive it to work and back? I can understand wanting a Japan-manufactured vehicle for sure. But unless you're gonna drive it and you're wife has something else to drive, she'd probably be happier with something like a Pilot of Highlander. If you're family excursions do not require the capability of a 4Runner, there are a lot of advantages to something like a Pilot or Highlander or better yet a minivan. Namely, lower to the ground, better gas mileage, more leg room, less maintenance, etc. Good luck.
P.s. We have both a 4Runner and Highlander and the Highlander will be used more often than the 4Runner for family trips.

Currently, our only vehicle is a 2007 Toyota Prius which we absolutely love--so we plan on keeping it as my work commuter. My wife doesn't drive to work, she takes the train into NYC. The reason of getting a second car (SUV, preferably) is for the days she'll be home on weekends when I'm working. Plus, we the SUV will be our only family/weekend vehicle.
We sat in the highlander, pilot, mazda cx9, 4runner, pilot. Test drove the 4runner and Pilot. I love the 4runner for what it is capable of doing, but I'm not an off-road junky at all. I have never been on an off-road trail...BUT we do like going to hiking places, road tripping, fishing, all with our beloved pooch and our infant son.
I like the new tech features, space, creature comforts, safety features of the Pilot. But that's actually where it stops for me.
My latest thoughts today was leasing the Pilot for 3 years, then financing the new redesigned 4runner. Thoughts?
From our experience that might apply to your situation.
4Runner pros:
If you get TE w/ KDSS, will handle and drive better in my opinion
Will handle any adventure you ever decide to do (more than I'll ever need)
If you keep it, awesome car to give to your 16 year old son
Reliability
4Runner cons:
Less room for carseat (make sure you test this with yours)
My wife doesn't like getting our toddler in/out of carseat (higher and less open)
Less legroom in rear (but still pretty good)
Not as good gas mileage
You will probably be more attached (and more upset at wife if she messes something up)
No auto headlights, climate control, lift gate etc. (doesn't matter to me, but does to my wife)
As far as leasing vs financing, I don't do either so won't comment. Just remember happy wife, happy life. Have fun deciding.

Any reason you guys arent considering the Highlander? Just curious... I like it quite a bit more than the Pilot.

Helped my folks pick out a new car today and this is what we came home with. I've been going back and forth on a purchase between a Highlander and 4Runner for myself in the next 12 months, and after spending a few hours in this thing today... there is no comparison, especially hopping back in my 4Runner at the end of the day.
We were going to wait for the 2017 Highlander but after they were pushed back to December delivery, and with the current 3.5L/6AT being a well proven combo, we pulled the trigger now. I have never been a big fan of tan interiors, but what Toyota is doing now with the two tone black carpet and all is pretty sharp.

I really love how these things drive - truly feels like a class up, IMO. More to come as we break it in, but super happy so far!
