4runner Price Advice/Question

Just as a data point for you:
A little over a year ago I picked up a 2019 TRD OR premium, 37k miles, looked mint, for $32k + tax (NY). Got it from a Lincoln dealer, guy traded it for something larger probably was doing airport runs/limo. This was just before the crap hit the fan over covid. Toyo dealers were asking more for older (2016/17) SR5's but with a little under 36k miles.
Unfortunately for you there is no time machine so you've gotta pay today's prices.

While a valid datapoint, the market today is nothing like it was 2 years ago. There's very little chance of a deal like yours today.

All used car valuations right now are sky high, so only you can decide if it's worth it to you. If you're selling or trading-in something, you should expect top dollar for yours (way more than KBB/Edmunds are currently showing on their websites). The flip side is you'll basically give it back and then some for anything you buy right now.
For $27k I would look to buy a new one personally. 100k miles of who knows what kind of maintenance it had... That's a lot of cheddar for potentially someone else's problems/mistakes.

This. There just isn't a basis for evaluating a "fair" price right now. it comes down to whether or not you can live with it.

Definitely seems high
Used car prices (and new) are crazy right now. You’ll have to do all the legwork to find the best deal possible if you really want to buy right now.
FYI, KBB lists the current “trade-in” value for my 2018 ORP for several thousand more then I paid new OTD. Nothing makes sense right now.

took me about 7 months to decide on a rig. 2 months of very serious looking, hrs a day and 5 months monitoring and researching

for $10k (plus tax) more you could get a new SR5 Premium w/sunroof.
You would need to have your head examined if you paid $27k for a 100k 4runner.

What does out the door mean to you.
Someone in CA vs someone in OR have vastly different out the door values.
Take taxes out of the equation.

Out The Door (to me) means When I walk out the door with the keys in my hand...that's the amount of money I've given them total.

2WD SR5 MSRP is $36,765, Toyota has $1000 Keep It Wild Cash on all models except TRD Pro. Nothing further is coming off MSRP. How can one get to $33,000 and in what local market?
