hey guys.

is been an while since i posted..

with my current 3rd gen as my daily, the mileage has been going up and up everyday.. in the last 2 months, i logged about 4200 miles... and now I'm around 355k miles..

I have been in the market looking for an 5th gen.. The Pro's is what i have been looking at but everywhere in califronia is asking an arm and an leg for it.. some places are looking for $57k for an PRO... that's absurd..

i found something i like the other day...

is it worth it to hold out for an PRO or go the build route with the trail Premium and add the Pro's accessories..

any major differences for the PRO and Trail?

Most people on here, along with me, have gone with the trail/trd premium.

and you should be able to get a new one for the same price if not cheaper than that 2016 is listed for...
 
I'd get a pro if you only want a specific color. Otherwise, in cali, prepare for a markup. Whereas all the other models, can be had for close or less than MSRP.

I went with the trail edition, and decided to build a more capable rig than the pro.

Some members on here, were able to find pro's in other parts of the country and get it shipped to cali through autonation, etc...that maybe your best bet if you really are itching for a pro.

Difference between pro and OR:
Pro has:
Pro specific shock and springs
pro specific color (optional)
Pro front skidplate
Pro grill and pro badging
Pro rims and better AT tires.
Pro badging on softex leather.
blacked out front and rear valence

OR has:
kdss (optional) not available w/ Pro.

Get the Pro, it will be worth it. Just go out of state, I bought mine a month ago from a dealer in Idaho and drove it through Vegas back to Los Angeles. They sell all of their Pro's at MSRP and received a black/white/cavalry blue Pro all in the past 60 days. PM me if you want their info.

Pro also has auto headlights.
 
mrblah is spot on. Pro model in Cali has a hefty above MSRP markup.

I feel ya regarding this question. My choice came down to price. I was able to get a ORP w/KDSS (not necessarily wanted, but it was on the model they had in stock so I took it) and then do a lift, tires, suspension and sliders for less than local So Cal dealers wanted for the Pro. I even had feelers out in AZ and NM and price wasn't much better than Cal ones.

I went with the trail premium with kdss after months of research and looking for a good deal and don't regret it for one minute. The only thing I did was substitute the tires for good all terrains and they have taken me everywhere I want to go.

With that said, you would have literally came across multiple threads containing hours worth of reading if you would have performed a simple Google search. The next time you want to research something on this site related to the 5th gen, Google search for example "TRD vs trail 4runner 5th gen". Just follow your subject with 5th gen or 4th gen etc.

Not trying to be a smart ass, just telling you that there will be more information by searching this way rather than relying on a few people to reply to your thread. Hope this helps in your search.
 
Like others said, look out of state. I got my Pro from the Auto nation Toyota dealer here in Vegas at MSRP. I just had to wait for them to get one in. I just looked on their website and they have brand new OR's and ORP's on there for only $2-4000 more than the used one you posted (no Pro's though) and heck, who doesn't need a good excuse to come to Vegas:eyebrows:
 
Only reason I bought a pro is the color. I had to have cement. No other color would suffice. That sad I would have gotten an off road if it came in cement. If cement was never offered then I would have landed in an off road. We all have different wants but I wouldn't spend the extra money for a pro if I was getting the same color that was offered on an off road model. Small lift, tires, suspension, skids could all be had for less then the cost of a pro
 
Pay whatever you have to pay to get a Pro, because in the end,...you'll just be cooler. Your life will be better overall -- the sky is bluer, birds sing more sweetly, food tastes better and obviously chicks will dig you more. It's called the TuRD Pro Effect. Everyone that tries to justify not buying a Pro with excuses like, "KDSS is much better", "It's just an appearance package", "They're too expensive", "I'll mod mine to make it as good or better", etc,...are just fooling themselves. Deep, down, they regret the decision not to buy one. It eats at them. Then, they come on the forum and lash out as us Pro owners. Kinda sad really. So, as I stated previously, save yourself the grief and go Pro.

Exactly...even if you get the appearance right...you will know it's never going to be the 'real thing' :) ;)

for me

I choose the pro to get the color and wheels. I did consider going with the off road and adding all of the trd pro options and realized I was crazy and would never get the truck.

I cannot lift it and keep it in my garage, nor can I add most racks for the same reason. It will be kept mostly stock so for me there was no question on what to get
 
When buying out of state you can also have a vehicle shipper deliver your new PRO. It cost me $900 to get my Quicksand PRO delivered from UT to FL.
