Thing is, I have never heard of iseecars.com. Has anyone ever used this site before? I question the validity of a relatively unknown site that claims to produce a comprehensive 29-year study. Not trying to ***** and say that the Toyotas/Hondas should be at the top, but I'd give the study a bit more credence if these results were published by Consumer Reports or some company with a credible reputation.

I know around here, I see old suburbans all the time. And the Hondas don't surprise me. I've owned a few and been around a ton. In my experience, they are relatively maintenance free for a while (usually 150k+), but once they start to go, they go downhill quickly.

I guess it all comes down to personal and family experience. I know plenty of friends who swear by Jeeps, have owned them for years with no problem. The one Jeep I owned totally shit the bed within a year; I never even got a chance to mod it, just had to keep it running. I'll never own another Jeep again.

Grew up in a strict Chevy family. I have memories of assisting my dad with constant maintenance (starters, alternators, transmission work, etc) and being stranded more than once with the whole fam damily.

I've noticed the Hondas and Toyotas I've owned both in the States and Japan (did 4 years there) age much more gracefully. Regular maintenance aside, the entire vehicle (interior/exterior/trim) just holds together and resists the urge to look like a beater. Comparing same age/miles between US and Japanese vehicles, I prefer the Toyotas.

I can't argue with your Honda observation, other than to share that I've had a different experience. Had a 1992 Accord EX with 190k mi, ran like a champ, didn't leak a drop of oil. Had to sell it because I couldn't take it overseas. Wish I still had it.

That's pretty much every experience I've had. Zero signs of minor/major issues and then a flood of them. Could be at 120k, 170k, 250k. Just know that when it starts happening, get out fast. At least that's what I would do if I had one.
