We got a saying in Iceland that if the snow was rough up in the highlands, "It was a 4runner and cherokee highway"

I think that says something about the off roading capability of the 4runner.
(of course, we have another saying: "No, I only saw few willys there")

A lil off topic, where did you get that rear bumper? Did you make it your self?

I've got issues with the rear bumper on my T4R, thinkin' of making something like that to solve that problem.

The bumper, and his whole truck, was built by Iron Pig Offroad.

And it's an excellent 4Runner.

You are welcome. But I can surely say that I spanked most of the g'damn diesel trucks up there. Hah!
(even tho my T4R was jinxed and I had to hold on to myself so I wouldn't damage the fender flares)

Amen to that one, its so bad down here in georgia between the soccer moms, the wana be thugs, and High School kids. I spend days on end trying to figure it out but i just cant...why not buy a friggin Chrysler if your gona spend the money to put rims on an SUV when they are made for towing, road trips, and exploration. The worst are the Hummers getting 6 mpg with 26s just to drive in the city!!! i guess why not as long as you look good. Im about to buy a shack in the mountains to get away from this crap. Or my new favorite is the high school kids that buy a Chevy throw 20s on it wrapped in 35s with a six inch lift and dont take it anywhere or maybe throw some mud on it and say they took it on some trails. My favorite thing to do is think about what the next big fad is gona be....scary to think about sometimes too... what is our world coming to?

I'm still Sand Shy ... I've only had my 4Runner for not even two weeks yet.

Hoping to get a decent air compressor (portable or underhood 12V) within the next couple of weeks for airing the tires back up.

Has anyone had any sand related issues with their 4th gen? What should I be keeping an eye out for above and beyond washing the truck down and regular maintenence?

I have a lot of friends in the area that have been making trips to Hatteras for many years without any serious wear and tear to there vehicles. I'm the only one with a 4th Gen 4Runner. But there are many who use newer vehicles on the beach.

Considering I'm from Canada ... the truck would probably see less salt on a Carolina beach, then it would on a Southern Ontario road in winter.

I'm not a big fan of "luxury" items so I spent the difference between a SR5 and Limited on getting the V8 and 4 wheel drive.

Hoping to hit Hatteras Monday. We'll see how this rig handles some sand ...

... Whats better in the sand: VSC on or off?
