4th Gen Buying Advice

Need some advice from all of my fellow t4r owners. I have the opportunity to buy a low mileage 2006 v8 4runner (38k Miles!!). The only reason why I haven't pulled the trigger on it is due to the oil change intervals. The individual changed the oil in 2011 when the truck had 36k miles. He just changed in it November 2014. My biggest issue is the fact that oil was kept in the motor for over 2 years without being changed. Do you think it would be safe to buy? Please let me know.

Buy it and change the oil, what's the issue ? Run a good fuel system cleaner Iike techron in the first tank. If it's 4wd check the actuators are functioning properly

I guess my issue is oil sludge and investing a lot of money on a car which essentially may give me problems down the road. Do you think I should worry about sludge?

Buy it and AutoRx the oil if you're concerned about possible sludge. That'll clean you out and start you new w/o munching away at the rubber seals.

Is this a private party sale or from a dealer? I only ask because if it's from a dealer and you're going by maintence items listed on a car fax, I wouldn't believe it. I'd imagine that whomever had it prior was a bit better with maintenance but hey, you never know. Now if it's private party and the owner is telling you that first hand, I'd be a bit leary before buying it. Have a good mechanic look it over first if that's the case. Don't let it scare you off quite yet though

the price wasn't right anyway... you should fee lucky. There's not way I would spend 20K on a truck that is 9 years old and was 32k brand new, regardless of mileage or condition.
