Happy Sunday All!

I have a 2004 SR5 V6 4X4 with 245k on the dash!

I bought this car a 2 years ago with 144K, and have enjoyed every second of driving it.

I'm not planning on getting rid of it any time soon but have a few questions that I was hoping some of you could help with.

1) I've kept up well with oil changes, rotations, brakes, normal maintenance, etc. What else should I be on the look out for? Notes here - I've disabled the vsc/trac. maintenance/check engine lights pop on from time to time but nothing urgent from the firestone mechanics.

2) i need to replace my shocks and springs and am planning on going with bilstein 5100 Front and Rear, with FJ Shocks. I've read all the threads but some can be dated. Anything new that I should know?

3) This is more of a personal question, but if you were in my spot and were looking to get another 50-100k out of this vehicle what would you want to be sure of going forward?

It's sounds like you're doing what you should be doing, e.g. all the normal maintenance.

The one concerning point is the CEL (Check Engine Light), while the "Maintenance Light" is only there to remind you it's around the time to do the oil change and just needs to be reset at some point...BUT the CEL is telling you that you have an issue and it should be throwing code/s, it usually doesn't come on without a code being thrown, has the mechanics pull any codes, if so the issue/s should be addressed?

Other than that if your spark plugs haven't changed every 30,000 for the V6 you need to be doing that but otherwise keep up with the maintenance and as far as any other things needing to be done just do them as they need to be done, others may have further advise, but as the old adage goes if it ain't broke, no need to fix it!!

-spark plugs
-radiator hoses, replace if they are soft
-transmission lines, the rubber ones going to the radiator, replace if they are soft
-maybe a PCV valve
-water pump, if original replace it anyway
-serpentine belt
-do the transmission filter, along with a drain and fill
-change the oil in the front/rear diffs and transfer case
-inspect your CV boots for thrown grease/tears in the boots
-do a coolant flush
-Id pay close attention to the cooling system, it's a V6 and they don't like tp get hot, so maybe just replace the thermostat and fan clutch preemptively.
-feel wheel bearings
-check upper and lower ball joints, LCA bushings.
-maybe rebuild your alternator with new brushes

Also when you do shocks, id replace your sway bar end links and bushings, it will help out a lot.
