4th Gen Tube Doors?

There was a thread on 120 where some guys wanted to get a set of tube doors made for our runners. Would anyone else be in on this deal? I think tube doors would be sweet for a weekend or whatever. Just an idea :shrug:

I think they would be really cool on a dedicated trail rig but trying to go back and forth between them and your regular doors would be a pain and would probably result in some electrical issues. There are the wires for the windows, locks and speakers that you would have to deal with. Just a thought

just had this discussion with a buddy of mine who has the new jeep rubicon. They're so easy to swap because there's only one clip of wires that needs detaching, used for the windows. The speakers are in the roof/roll cage. We have a plethora of wires running through our doors, and keeping them all intact would be quite the task the more you swapped them out. Momo is right on this one, just wouldn't be worth the risk unless they were staying on...

agreed dont really see how it would work....BUT if you do figure out a way to make it work with wires and what not i would love to see it cause that would be wicked, but pretty sure our doors weigh twice as much as jeeps so may need a couple folks to man handle that S.O.B. on and off.

It isn't worth the hassle. You would find them interesting for about 10 seconds.. then as soon as the first rain came, or god forbid an accident and you would go CRAP real quick.

That and Wrangler doors have off and on in mind, and are about 50% lighter than these. Not suggesting they are super heavy, but they are hefty and bulky. Wrangler doors can be stacked on one another quite easily, and they are built to have a "who gives a ****" attitude. After one off and on and I bet you ding/mess up the crap out of these.

Tube doors are awesome, when in the right situation. If this vehicle is your daily driver, then it would be a huge PIA.

Now... 10 years from now, when you have a new daily.. then.

They make them for the FJ Cruiser, so why not the 4th gen 4runner.
I guess the biggest difference would be the fact the FJ's interior would be much easier to clean then a carpeted 4runner.

You can go all out and make some half doors out of some stock junkyard doors, granted it would be alot of work but if executed it could look sick. My nephew whos in highschool built these doors for his FJ60.
