Yes, they will.

Looking at some Gen 4 17’s. Anyone know what they weigh relative to stock 2001 16” alloys?

The 265/65x17 tire I’m looking at weighs 1.5 lbs more than the 265/70x16. Wondering if the wheel assembly will weigh more.

Can one ask why/what for? I get being mindful of extra weight, but thats just splitting hairs

Unsprung weight.

Toyota OEM rims seem unbelievably heavy. The 17” rims on our Prius V weigh five pounds more, each, than the stock 17” Subaru rims of the same size.

Truck alloys have to weigh more. The tire already weighs 1-1/2 lbs more. Imagine Gen 4 17” takeoffs have to weigh more than the 16’s, but would like to know. The idea would be to run winter tires on the 16’s and put three season tires on 17’s next spring.

To each their own, but this is an SUV not a racecar. A few pounds of unsprung weight isn't going to be noticeable in any way to 99.999999 percent of us.

Why not ditch the spare and get a puncture repair kit, then? Save some real weight.

Or ditch the seats... or be a real racer and start chopping the body. Hell, might as well throw in a smaller gas tank at that point

Seriously, if you can carry a passenger or two with almost zero difference then shedding a couple kilos to a 4000lb SUV won't make a bit of change. Think of all the times you had 10lbs of stuff in your car

Disappointing that there’s no recognition of sprung versus unsprung weight nor anyone cars about ride and handling.

As no one answered the question I’ll keep looking. Putting winter tires on the stock 16’s so I can wait until next spring.

There absolute is, I work in the racing industry; my job makes parts for everything from go karts to sprint cars to late model stock cars to aftermarket performance parts that get used by people ranging from amateur racers to professional teams like Hoonigan. Few understand the importance of weight savings more than people like us
But this isn't that. What you're doing is like saying you avoid carrying a wallet so you can walk easier. Nothing's stopping you from crunching the numbers, we're simply informing you your vehicle will not notice in the slightest regard unless you were serious about it and started hucking and chopping out some good amount of weight.
And in that regard, if the goal is to increase handling... well I think you'll be very disappointed. A featherlight SUV will arguably handle worse flying down the road than one with a bonestock curb weight. If you think it's bad when you get blown around in windy weather now, it'll be wayyy worse when you're 1000+lbs lighter than you were ever designed to be.

I'm a mechanic that has to deal with spoiled corvette owners... I'm well aware of unsprung vs sprung weight. If I never have to explain it to a customer again it will be too soon. I stand by my original statement that 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 percent of us are not going to notice a change in unsprung weight.

My friend just put 17" 8-Hole FJ-Cruiser rims with 265/70R17 tires and they fit very well, no rubbing anywhere and clear from upper ball joint.

Bought a set of 6 spoke 17’s today. They will be used for Spring - Fall. Thinking about Nokian Rotiiva for tires but won’t need to decide until March.
