4wd dash light flashing, safe to drive?

Started up today, went to put it in gear, and saw flashing dash lights. It's in 2wd mode, just the dash lights seem to be flashing. Is it safe to drive until I figure it out?

It should be safe even if it is in 4wd. I think you can drive it up to like 65 mph in 4wd. I had this same problem a couple times and I drove it for a week like that before I finally just unhooked the battery and plugged it back in. That usually does the trick.

Probably. The manual says when the lights flash (meaning the 4wd is trying to engage but has not yet), try stopping and backing up a few feet then forward again. Another 'trick' i have used with lots of success is while traveling at normal speed make a right turn, that usually engages the 4wd system, then a left turn when it doesn't want to disengage. Mine needed this trick for a couple years worth of monthly 4wd use, then finally it just engages/disengages as normal while just driving straight.

In your case I would drive it slowly and turn the wheels, while doing so listen/feel for any binding, if none continue driving. Luck! :cowboy:

What year and trim level is it? There are several different 4WD systems used in these trucks.

I'll give it a test drive to see if it's resolved.

I'm pretty sure you can drive at any speed in 4wd high (locked or unlocked center diff), you just have to be below 65 to engage or disengage it. I will change my manual soon.
