Give it a good look over for rust and other maintenance, talk him down to $4,000 (or not), and buy it! Just my opinion.

I'm about to have to put tires onto my '97 that I paid over a grand more for than that less than a year ago. If that was local, I'd be tempted to try and move mine quick and snap that up if it's as clean as it appears in pictures.

I can guarantee he's already got people coming out to look at it. I was looking over the entire bay area for a manual transmission or auto/superchared 4Runner and within a few hours of posting every one would have offers :(

Look it over for rust? :wtf: the thing is in Cali lol it will be fine! Around here we don't look for rust we look for holes in the frame lol.

That's why I bought mine sight unseen :)

If you're going to buy anything that's worth the price on CL you have to have cash out and waiting to go, and watch CL like a hawk. And be able to roll out immediately.

Good stuff sells *fast*. Crappy stuff that's overpriced? You can take your time.

There is no guarantee that it hasn't spent 10 years in a salt mine. How do we know it has ever been registered in Cali? Might as well tell the guy "I'll buy it" and then look under the hood before handing over the cash ;)

IF I was in the market, I'd jump on this ( I have three 4runners already---don't need another one). I also got my 5speed 4WD with soon to be installed E-locker for thousands cheaper too!!

Exactly! I had cash in hand when I went and looked at my 99 Highlander edition.

I know that you're joking, but that's basically how I had to do it when buying the one I wanted. These 4Runners sell stupid fast in Northern California if they are a decent price and clean. I already had the cashiers check ready to go before I showed up to see it for the first time. They are in very high demand at the moment.

I should add, I contacted him with 1 hour of posting his vehicle on craigslist.

Talk about deal of the century.. At that price you can afford to put like 3k into it for maintenance if needed and still come out ahead.

I see the locker switch on the dash & he doesn't even mention it in his ad. If this was local I'd buy it as a back up. Too bad it doesn't have the 99+ upgrades but I guess you could add them later. I paid a few dollars less then that for my high boost TRD SC.
