5100 Bilstein Shocks on Brand new 2018 T4R?

I've had my 5100s on about a week. No real noticeable difference in cornering between XREAS and the 5100s, as long as I don't drive it like the wife's Q5. Maybe just a touch more body roll, but that's fairly subjective.

I'm in similar situation. Looking at 5100's on new '18 with KDSS. Will be using the TRD wheels w/ Yoko Geolanders for improved road/snow. I don't off road other than grass. Just looking for a go anywhere just in case truck. From what I read 0.85" setting in the front on the 5100 would level out.

Is there another setting more than 0.85" but less than 2.5" lift? Not looking for UCA upgrade. Whats the rear setup then?

The 3 settings on the 5100 and most common spacer combinations are:

.85” front + stock rear = level
1.75” front + 1” rear spacer
2.5” front + 1.5” rear space (UCA recommended but not required)

Man up and go with 6112's or better...I gutted my X-REAS pretty quickly and although I do miss the cornering a bit, everything else is improved.

This is good advice. Granted I️ have 2016 Trail with KDSS but getting 6112/5160 combo improved my handling considerably! I shouldn’t have waited to 8000 miles.

I noticed you have a KDSS TRD Off road (signature). To get your tires on was a requirement to get a lift with your bilsteins?

Can't say exactly I did both at the same time. Would recommend if going with a larger tire however regardless.

2018 SR5 4x4

Go with the 5100's. I did on my 2017 when I had 1,000kms on it. One of the best mods I've done so far. Basically leveled out the truck (.85 setting) and almost eliminated the nose dive under braking.

This is precisely what I want to do for the wife's new 2018. I've never replaced stock shocks.

My question is are there different models of the 5100 or are they all the same?

There will be minimal if any offroading, maybe a gravel parking lot every now and then. Its mostly to level it and dampen some of the nose dive. Eventually will probably put some new rims (18's or 20's) and possibly a slightly larger tire but not too much. She's not into the huge lifted 4x4 look.

There are different model #s.... you’ll need to find the ones for your (year) 4Runner... and front model # should be different from rear model # if I remember correctly.

They will work just fine for that. There is only one model of 5100 that fit our trucks. They handle gravel roads no problem I take my truck down some nasty roads and they have held up just fine. They will be more than adequate for the wifes use. Nosedive reduction is huge too.

Any specific reason you went with 6112's in the front?
How's the handling with snow tires? I have KO2s being mounted on TRD pro wheels at 265/70 but debating keeping my stock Trail wheels for winter using Nokian. BTW, I too have KDSS, but planning a 0.85/10mm lift.
