5100 shock fitment

Hey all,
I did all the search's using different wording but could not come up with what I need to know. Does any one run rear 5100's on a 99 with tall stock springs? On the 97 runner that my kid has now I installed 4600's all around, kind of soft but worked well. On my 01 Tacoma I got 5100's and I'm really pleased with the ride. I just don't want to buy the wrong shocks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am interested as well as I am about to order new stuffs. I know you can run the 5100s on it the 99 tall springs are the same as my stock 2000 springs and they list the 5100s for it. I would guess if you like the ride on your taco then you would on the 4runner.
you don't want too soft, unless its just a grocery getter

I just put 5100's on the front with my stock '99 tall springs on the middle perch. They ride great. As of right now I have 906 in the back with stock shocks (soon to upgrade to 5100's also).

I know the shock questions have been beat to death & I'm really sorry to even ask but my concern is the fact that Bilstein and others say that 5100's are for lifted runners. Looking at the stats that were posted somewhere in my searches comparing 4600's & 5100 compression/extension numbers they were not off by much. My build ( I will post when done) is primarily for dd and light offroading although ruining the rear shocks either by bottoming or overextension is a concern. The springs were replaced recently with oem's but the guy I bought it from in Feb. didn't do it. I like the way it sits now so replacements aren't needed. One more thing I've had great luck with Billy's on 4 previous vehicles and I know other manufacturers do have great products, but I want to stick to what I have had good luck with.

Thanks for the input guy's. I already plan on 51's on the front (stock or middle setting) rears are the problem. I think it was wheelers that had the correct bushings already installed for our trucks. Guess I'll just have to make a decision.

It doesn't give a definitive answer on the 5100 rears with '99 coils but it sounds like the OP might have chosen that route. I'd PM him and see if he did and whether or not he like it.

I'm thinking that I'll just take a chance, buy the 5100 rears and be done with it. I'll let everyone know how it works out when I submit my build thread. Thanks again for the assistance.
