Do you like the 2015 nav/radio combination I your 5th generation 4Runner?

I own 2015 4Runner with the factory nav/radio. I find it a waste of money and would recommend new buyers not purchase.

Have you replaced your Nav/radio OEM? What do you recommend ( Pioneer, Alpine, etc)?

I like mine but I have never owned a vehicle with a different system so I have nothing to compare it to.

It's solid. I wish the screen was a little bigger. I've come from a BMW 335 with iDrive and a Land Rover LR4 and this system is as good and actually better than most.

I find mine pretty easy to use on my 2015. It has not lead me into any lakes yet.

Technically u can if you are already on the bluetooth option listening. I use it when I'm driving all the time so I dont have to mess with the phone. It wont work if you are in any other mode. At least not yet

Hit and hold the Hangup button for a second and Siri will be activated for you to ask for what you want.

I've been quite a few different audio systems in the past with previous trucks but for the factory unit in the 5th gen i dont find myself wanting to replace as quickly as my previously owned vehicles.

it just works and it works great.

Yes i do wish the screen was bigger as any replaced double din in other trucks were always with the standard 7" screens but i like how it integrates with the truck and allows me to track via the maintenance app all the things i like to monitor. oil, tires, etc.. all integrated and updates with the mileage the truck actually drives. pretty cool feature.

If you have the latest iOS system you can always use the "hey Siri" (where you say "hey Siri" and it she responds without actually needing to touch your phone) option as long as your source is on Bluetooth.

Same unit between my 14 Limited and the 16 TRD, minus the JBL part. Navi is the same. I have to say the 16 is a bit more refined. Lot less Bluetooth mishaps. As far as Nav is concerned, I use Waze now, or apple maps, and let the audio go over the Bluetooth to tell me where to turn.

I think he meant the answer button. Click and hold and it links to your iPhone Siri.

I happen to like it, I owned a 2013 BMW 335xi M-sport, and the Toyota Nav is much better with voice recognition! I liked the automatic re-routing based on traffic and accidents with the BMW but overall much happier with Toyota.

I believe there is a software update for older Entune models... might want to look into it, I think you can do it yourself.

I have the 15 LTD w JBL. One of the best stereo sounds I've heard.
I'll have to try the answer button on the way to the office. I know the "speak" button is for the Entune voice activation but "it needs some work". Hint hint Toyota. We could also use an app that shows is gauge displays that were deleted with the gen5 refresh

i've had no issues with nav/radio on my late 2015 SR5. a few things would make it better such as speed of typing and scrolling on the map but other than that, pretty useful. much easier to use than my wife's 2010 Benz GLK350.

It would, technically. The stock speakers aren't great, but they're not awful either, they're just "okay."

Putting new speakers in the car would cost a fair amount of extra time, as there aren't a LOT of direct fit options.

The single biggest upgrade would be having a better amplifier and processor. Some guys like the stock look, so they put an EQ/processor down the line after the head unit, and send that signal to the doors.

Best and cheapest fix is just to get a good aftermarket unit with a solid EQ. It won't make your car sound like a concert hall, but it will be far and above the tin can it sounds like now.
