Look.... what 30+ members have been waiting for. Who's going first!? :wink2:

POSTED FROM "SigSense" http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/114906-snorkel-update-3.html

Rec'd a response to my questions from these folks: Products - Futaishin Enterprise Co., Ltd

I honestly do not know what snorkels typically cost, but $613 to get one at my house is too much.......

You can via Paypal to: [email protected]

The quotation as below for your reference.
Snorkel for 5th Generation 4Runner USD315/1set
Freight via DHL express to USA USD298
Total amount USD613

We have a suggestion that we want to offer to you, you can order 2 sets of this item, because the freight is same as 1 set. This package can put 2 sets in, so you can share out the freight cost between 2.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Best Regards

$613 is steep. TJM & Safari snorkels are both under $400. I want one though lol.

Edit* Crap I didn't even read the $300 freight charge LOL.

I would like to see one painted to match the car color. Is it me or is there something odd looking about it compared to other snorkels? Oh and I still would not pay their shipping price.

Just cause it's a 5th gen doesn't mean you have to rape us on the price. Wow. It does look good though.

I know absolutely nothing about snorkels nor do I have any desire to purchase one but would it not make more sense (at least cosmetically) to have some plumbing inside running towards the firewall then out so there is less snorkel on the outside? Or have I completely ignored that there is no room in the fender or engine bay to do this?

Group buy would be a good idea for this one. Since shipping is the same price for two units it should be bought in pairs, with 2 snorkels, that breaks it down to $464 per each.

I would assume because it is easier to cut a hole straight into where the intake is. It would be pretty hard to muscle the plastic intake in between two holes in the fender if there was less showing.

The difference is that the is no external hole cut in that fender. You would have to cut a hole big enough to not only fit this snorkel through, but also big enough to give it some room for play to attach it to the stock intake box. Wouldn't work.

one can dream my friend.

one can dream.

$600 + for this and you still aren't water proof... so much more needs to be done to the rig before forging through rivers lol

Seriously? Is anyone really going to take a new 5th Gen into water deep enough to actually NEED that (really ugly) thing?

Wouldn't you have water in the cabin before it was useful. Oh wait, it's your truck .... never mind.

CTH, what do you think?
