Think for a second. Could you imagine if dealers or salesman were allowed to come into a forum and post in FS threads? The forum would be littered with spam. If someone wants a TRD Pro, they are going to seek one out. What we don't need is some scumbag salesman coming in here making his sales pitch like we're a bunch of idiots falling for his sales tactics.

The guy does own a TRD Pro in Orange... His profile does state that he works for Metro Toyota. I'm sure he didn't mean any solicitation... maybe he's just trying to be good guy salesman.

Yes I sell Toyota's. Am an avid 4Runner fan, and thought someone would want to know there was TRD Pro in Black that's available. If that hurts someone's feelings, then I'm sorry. I imagine if someone scooped it they'd be pretty geeked that I let them k ow it was available.

Exactly this, and just trying to get it in hands of someone worthy of its ownership. No solicitation intended. These are just very difficult to get and thought people on this forum would be pleased to find out.

Actually yes I can and its reason like this they most dealership wouldn't waste there time on forums.
Example. On Camaro5.com they actually have a dealership that is on the board and quess what it's a feaking great thing. They locate cars for people, sell cars to people in about 48 states. Sell and ship parts (discounted) to people that don't have dealerships close to them. They even answer tech questions and because of them guess who else is on the boards GM customer service. They even offered tickets to the members of Camaro5 before they even let it out to the pubic.
Even better theory. The help pay them operating cost of the BB forum and all of its administrative cost. Welcome to the real world these forums are actually small business that need capital to stay running so we can enjoy them.
So yes I have thought about it much more then you have.
Please don't take my comments personally as I am just trying to explain to you what it takes for these forums actually survive. I have seen many come and go over the years and sponsors generally pull out when they see members posting comments like this. Perfect example is Syty.net they used to have tons of sponsors and supporting members now it's just a bash fest and when that happens members don't post and worse they leave. Trust me why would a vendor want to pay money where they see that happening.
Forums are the new Magazines and Sponsors are looking for membership and traffic to the site and "Hit" on there little banner adds on the right. Without them this site will eventually fail.

The theory is sound. But when a business makes use of the forum for a business purpose without paying, it doesn't work quite as well. This seems pretty well outlined in the forum rules. This is one of the many reasons car salesmen have such a great reputation on forums!

Then perhaps you need to think about it a little more. There's a reason why they're called Official Forum Vendors and Sponsors, we have a separate section for that here. Likely the dealer you had on the Camero forum was one as well. What you didn't have was Joe Schmuck from XYZ dealership in Cheboygan, MI trying to make a sale. If you want to become an official forum sponsor or vendor, then that's fine otherwise we don't need random salesman advertising stuff. Now I'm sure the guy was just trying to be nice and let people know he had one in stock but again, go through official channels if you're going to do that.

For Sale: New OEM all weather floor mats. $40 + shipping.
I have never used these mats. They came with my truck and I pulled them out before I left the dealer lot. They are rubberized and flexible with an edge channel. Black with the 4Runner logo in grey.
However... they WILL NOT fit all 5th gen years and click into the floor tabs (ex. they would not have fit into my '11 SR5). Check your floor tabs!!! These came out of my 2013 SR5 Premium.
I prefer to sell local and not to ship them but if you pay shipping I will. I can't imagine shipping would be much over $15.

Yes they eventually became a member but they were given the opportunity to get there feet wet first so they could see if it was worth spending there marketing dollars on the site.
Comments like joe schmuck and various others that are made on all boards is a great way for them to quickly learn the Demographics of people that they will have to deal with and most vendors tend to shy away from sites where that is common.

The guys post that there is one for sale "BFD" and the people lash out at him like a child would lash out. We are grown adults in most cases on these baords and it time we start acting like one. Trust me 99% of all of the Keyboard hero's wouldn't have the balls to say what they can type on a keyboard.
My point is don't be a d ck and just say please post this over on the TRD thread and if you are interested in being a sponsor we would love to have you.
Plain and simple it what most people would do if you were having a conversation especially with a person that you have never met before.
and if you think I am off my rocker I am not I am just intolerant of petty bull crap that happens on these boards. I can pull up a couple post on this board where the OP is asking people if they would like to join in on a group purchase please respond. If you are not interested "DON'T POST" any negative comments. On Lateral-g for example if you post negative comments the MODS come on quickly and remove your post and then they send you a PM asking you to act like an adult. If you can't you are removed.
Leave it to the moderators not the internet Hero's and that is what I was trying to say.
