5th Gen For Sale/Wanted Thread

Strange inquiry here but looking to see if someone can help me out. I had my OME BP-51 suspension put on my car about a week and a half ago, and long story short, I put the OEM suspension in the BP-51 boxes and left them in my garage thinking they would be safe. They were taken from my garage and I made the error of not recording any serial numbers or taking up close pictures of the parts prior to them going missing.

Basically I've found a posting on craigslist from a seller not far from me with a picture of OEM 4runner suspension in BP-51 boxes and I'm about 99% sure these are mine. Already called the police department and they aren't willing to help out since I don't have physical proof that these parts ever belonged to me or were on my car. Obviously contacting the seller and arranging to meet seems like the next best solution but given that they could either be desperate enough to steal my parts, who knows what could go down upon meeting them, or I could just be completely wrong and look like an idiot to a reputable seller.

My question is, are there matching serial numbers across OEM toyota suspension kits or any kind of numbers I could look for that may link these parts back to my 4runner? The car was bought in December of 2016 brand new - and yes, I've already contacted the dealership to ask the same question. According to them, I'm SOL but wanted to check on the forum! I'll add that there's no emotional attachment to these parts so I'm okay with letting them go if it comes down to it.

Suspension parts would not have any specific assignment to your VIN that I'm aware of, as they are not stamped in anyway to match an individual 4Runner.

The only thing I can think is if your BP-51 boxes might have coinciding serial numbers on them. Your new coilovers should have serial numbers. I know my Icons have serial numbers on them.

I have a few parts from my Limited build that I am not going to use or no longer need. Feel free to make reasonable offers.

All parts (except wheel and tire) come off a 2016 Limited 4Runner with about 1,700 miles on it.

Factory skid plates (hardware included): $100 plus shipping
Husky front floor mats: $60 plus shipping
Factory roof rails with cap covers (hardware included): $75 plus shipping

Brand new, SR5 wheel with new (zero miles, purchased new in March) BFGoodrich All-Terrian T/A 285/70R17 KO2 (lugs included): $200 plus shipping

I prefer local pick up on all item in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.

I say let it go. What is the old suspension even worth if you sold it? $150-$200 maybe. I know it's pretty rotten and the person is a scumbag but be glad they stole the stock suspension and not your BP-51's. Even more be glad they didn't steal anything else valuable in your house and that no one was hurt. I know you want to get them back and have justice served but I think it's going to be a huge waste of time and effort to try and track it down and say you met up with the person something horrible could go down. We've already established the guy is a scumbag and a criminal, if you confronted him it could get really ugly for you. Not worth it in my opinion. Let it go, erase it from your mind, and be glad nothing worse happened. More importantly enjoy the BP-51's!!!

thats pretty generous. Most guys post them for free or maybe up to $100 here... including stock UCAs.

They actually did [MENTION=166901]Bay_Runner[/MENTION] a favor cleaning up his garage. No one likes to be burgled, but it sounds like the thieves got screwed on this one.

Preach it. The value of the stock suspension is worth next to nothing to me now, I just wanted to confirm there was no (legal) way to get these back before moving on. As you said, chances are pretty good that I've got more to lose than him in this situation. Karma will work it's magic eventually I'm sure... so onward we go! I appreciate the kind words.

Man that sucks. I caught a guy snooping in my garage when I was on the phone inside my car. Part of me agrees to let it go. The other part of me would confront and verify it is yours so you know who the guy is. Get his phone number too. Then invest in a good wifi cam so you have clear picture quality of what's going on.
