Hey all,
New here and potentially a future owner of a 2013 4Runner Limited. I didn't want to create a dedicated through but wanted to run this past some folks who know better than me (i.e. you all on this forum!). Hoping for a couple quick opinions to help me with pulling the trigger decision.
I've never really owned a car with this many miles. I sold my Corolla at 100k, BMW 328 at 80k, and Impreza at 80k. But I've also never owned a 4Runner!
I've read over the forums, no major issues with the 5th gen other than some annoyances. This particular vehicle story seems to be an enthusiast that kept up with maintenance but definitely off-roaded. He mounted at least 4 sets of tires over its lifetime.
My only concern from this is at 98k he asked them to inspect suspension, which on Limited I assume would be the X-REAS system that is expensive to replace. And then he had to replace the front control arm, which I don't know if that speaks to how hard he drove it?
What are your opinions?

- $23,000 (+$1.6k for 30k/36 month extended warranty, maybe)

Might just be me, but that price seems pretty high for the age and mileage. Not by a whole lot, but enough to make me want to shop around. 2013 is before the facelift too so those hold a bit lower value than the 2014+. I live in a place where Toyota Tax seems to be ridiculously high and I just saw a pretty nice 2013 Limited with 182K kms (yours has 120K miles or 192K kms) selling for $22K CAD at a dealership which generally charges a higher price vs private market. I've generally noticed that Toyotas are a better price in the US after conversion, but the pricing on your unit doesn't seem to fit that mold.
Edit: I just found a 2012 Limited with 192K kms selling for $19.5K CAD at a dealership. I obviously can't speak to the history or condition, but I think you might do well to shop around to confirm whether you're paying too much given your local market.
You're probably due for another diff/transmission oil changeover -it was done at 60K miles and you're over double that again.
Xreas, general consensus is that they're expensive to replace with OEM so replace with after-market i.e. opportunity for a proper lift.
So, you might have another $2K of maintenance items ahead of you (trans, diff replace and possible suspension replacement). Not sure if you'd be able to avoid that with any higher mileage unit you buy down the road, though.
$0.02. Do you have any comparable units based on price? i.e. pre-facelift 4runners so between 2010 and 2013)

[SOLD/TRADED] After a short stint with my eibach prokit loft I am getting it removed this weekend and going back to stock. Ride was amazing and loved the lift but I already have two kids, one can’t climb in and a third on the way so lifting a car seat in won’t go well for the wife. Kit was installed for 4 months and 5k miles, all highway and local driving - never off-road.
I’m located south of Philadelphia in PA and was going to first throw out these as a trade for sliders with steps or other aftermarket stuff with cash on one side depending what it is. Not looking to ship yet but will consider if no one local is interested.
Kit was installed and removed by local Toyota dealer, I’ll post pics in the next few days.
