I got a chance to work on the Face plate for the sub box this evening.
Hopefully, when it's all covered in vinyl, it'll still look good...

How did you attach the cover to the box?

Front Cover attachment

The cover is screwed on from the back. I drill a 1" hole in the back of the box and use a long screw driver to reach through the box to install the screws. Then plug the back holes with 1" dowell. This is the only way to get to these screws in such a shallow box. If you build a bigger box, you can reach inside the speaker hole to drive the screws in. Double check the screw length.

Sorry, Im not in business to build boxes, and there is no patern. I back the car up to the shop & test fit each piece.

nice build, how much did it cost to build your box? rough estimate? what kind of amp are you running and are you still using the stock stereo?

Sub Cabinet build

The box cost very little to build. 1/2 sheet of MDF $25 maybe and about $25 for vinyl. The JL8w3 was about $200.

I am running a JL 700/5 amp with an Audio Control LCQ-1 and the stock head unit. Front speaker are JL (again) C5 3 way components.

The sound is amazing with a disc and almost amazing with the Ipod.
