Spent the weekend in the South-Eastern Sierras near Lone Pine/Whitney Portal to checkout some trails and campsites. I even got to see some snow for the first time in a couple of years...it was just beautiful up there. I tried camping in the back of the truck one night and it worked out great! Can't wait to go back next week and explore more.

You can get a better look at the GoPro mount on the roof rack...will post the video when it's ready.

I just drove it for a few miles to see how it went as a detour while heading to Kennedy Meadows. It's a very nice fire road that goes way into Golden Trout Wilderness. I'm sure it was recut during the recent fires - a large amount of that area was wiped out in the fires last year. I'll be exploring more of the byway next week.

Went down to Huntington Beach and came back with beach cruisers.. REI had the Thule bike rack in stock. Really happy with the bike rack. Bilstein 5100’s handle the added weight well.

If you get one, I'd recommend LineX immediately...they make a great product but cheap powdercoating process. Surface rust 1 week of ownership, they shipping is crap (loose bolts and nuts caused me to have to run to home depot for installation b/c nuts fell out of the box), and the company blamed me. Ha

All in all...an okay product. I wanted a high clearance hitch mount and wasn't sure if the offset model offered it. Good luck bro

No offense but I think buying the 5th gen. immediately is a bad move. Doing that you are buying it the most expensive. You are also buying the 1st kind, so bugs/upgrades haven't been worked out which would be in a year or two.

In my experience; Honda and Toyota and maybe others are exempt from the work the bugs out thing. I got the 1st run of I suppose Gen 4 (2010) I HAVE BEAT IT, and after ten years of 5x a week beatings in dirt, snow, logs, boulders, fords, Today it needed front shocks. $1500 installed. Seems kinda high, no?

It's a Wilco Off-Road spare tire carrier. They're okay. I think Rigd Supply makes a better one for our 4Runners. Looks more stout, has an extra hitch on the swing out so you can put a bike rack on it, and you can get more accessories for it.
