[2016 4Runner SR5]

In my experience; Honda and Toyota and maybe others are exempt from the work the bugs out thing. I got the 1st run of I suppose Gen 4 (2010) I HAVE BEAT IT, and after ten years of 5x a week beatings in dirt, snow, logs, boulders, fords, Today it needed front shocks. $1500 installed. Seems kinda high, no?

Yep, WAY high. Do your homework before paying people to do things for you. You could have picked up stock brand new take off complete front shocks for probably 50 bucks. Stock suspension is pretty much worthless.

Dirt Magnet

I thought my 4Runner was a real dirt magnet, our Sienna did way better in soft, dry dust. Took me a long time to clean it. I should have taken the 4Runner for these roads. Had to give up an go back on 2 roads due to clearance. Almost got stuck on a small patch of snow the next day when the traction control decided to cut engine power.

It's a Wilco Off-Road spare tire carrier. They're okay. I think Rigd Supply makes a better one for our 4Runners. Looks more stout, has an extra hitch on the swing out so you can put a bike rack on it, and you can get more accessories for it.

Wilco has an extra hitch as well. Plus it's a high clearance hitch. Not saying one is better than the other but I'm sure both offer similar features. Just comes down to preference.

Feature for feature, Rigd offers more. Wilco has an extra hitch but it's only on the stationary part and not on the swing part. Meaning if you use a bike rack you have to take the bike off every time to swing out the tire carrier or to even open your rear hatch. With the Rigd Ultraswing it has a hitch on both stationary part and swing part. If you attach a bike rack to it you can swing out both the tire and rack in one move to get to your rear hatch. The Ridg also uses a compression latch and an extra safety pin where as the Wilco only uses a pin to secure the carrier. The Rigd has a swing auto stop as well so your tire will never hit your car. The accessory mount for the Wilco looks like a janky little toy. The Rigd has a molle panel with mount holes to basically attach anything.

I'm not saying the Wilco isn't a good product and doesn't work for you. But it's an old design that the Ridg has basically improved upon in every possible way. Ridg was formed by former Wilco employees after-all. There's no way I'd buy a Wilco over the Ridg Ultraswing at this point.

I disagree with Rigd being better. But you are entitled to your opinion. Wilco is very similar to my 4Runner...old, outdated, and I could always fine something better. But it's basic and less goes wrong with it. Plus, the pin you're referring too is effective enough where it doesn't need an additional safety mechanism.

Plus, the yaikma bike rack I have enables me to lower it if I need access to something in the back. But if I have my bike rack on I'm not accessing the back anyway regardless if I have a hitch mount or not. The rear tailgate isnt deep enough where I need to open the swing anyway.

Like I said earlier, both seem equally good to me. You like Rigd and I prefer my Wilco. Not asking anyone to buy anything...just providing pics.

Looks like my ‘Runner after one trip out and back. 1/2 mile of gravel road. 1/4 mile is gravel and talcum powder. HAH!

Tough to find the Toyota brand black running boards!

When you order running boards, make sure you get ones for the Limited. Body molding/Rocker panels are different than SR5 and other models. So you need running boards with the right brackets for the Limited. I don't think Toyota's black running boards (2 current Toyota black running boards) are made to fit the Limited. You'll have to go with one of the fixed running boards with either chrome or brushed steel trim. Or the power running boards.
