5th Gen vs 2015 LC 70 Series Anniv

Ive just spent the past hour looking at youtoob vids of this vehicle. Can anyone say anything about them?

the vids mentioned the V6 petrol engine, and part time 4WD system, ladder frame, ect ect.

someone please tell me that there is some sort of relationship between this vehicle and our beloved 4Rnnr other than the Toyota emblem on the steering wheel...because i cant buy a tkt to japan to buy one special with left-side driver controls...

further more, can our beloved even compare to the capabilities of this rig?

I've driven them around Africa a bit. They share some with our 4runner, but not much. Basically just the engine in that model. I've never been in one that isn't a diesel though. They're pretty anemic by our standards with the diesels, but they get where you need to go.

On the bright side you can basically get something very close for a lot less $. An FJ80 land cruiser is the closest cousin and comes with 99% of what makes a 70 series awesome. And they're pretty cheap.

that is where i first saw the model. but I learned later that Toyota is building about 200 a month only for 2015-2016 as an anniversary edition and selling to other markets outside of Japan. It is suppose to have all of the modern versions of what it had, and built to its high standards as always.

I would love to have one of the 4 door SUV versions, as they have that look that attracted me first to jeeps, and then to LR Discos back in the 90s.

but truthfully, ill keep and enjoy my 2014 for now...

(3) of these, 4-door, white, brand new with snorkels, were on a flat bed headed south on I-81 through the Shenandoah Valley yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately in the opposite direction of me. I about ran off the road after I figured out what they were...who knows there destination but im sure its an interesting story

Aw man, and i am in suburban DC too...so close...oh so close.

Ill also take one of those blue 4door pickup models too...that way i wont double up SUVs while keeping my beloved Super White Tonka...


i bet the import fees alone would kill a mere mortal like myself.
