5VZ knock sensor wiring routing - no pinch ?

Folks can anyone share how to rout the knock sensor harness out of the galley? I pinched my new harness, so my routing was bad.

Have yet to test it to ensure i didn't break a wire, yet i reckon i can do that after i rout the thing properly.

A little coolant leak at the front pass side gave me a clue the gasket wasn't sealing. The harness was hanging up the manifold from sealing.


Using my oil evacuator to evac coolant out of he galley was a pleasure. :der:

Only one way i see

OK, there appears to be only one path which is by tucking the harness down on the drivers side, where there is a small gap between the block and head.

I will shoot a pic if its successful AND i test the harness and ensure i didnt muck it up.

Test the harness before you button everything up. It's been a few years since I had to open the valley up (intake coolant leak). I think there is a tiny space towards the front pass side of the engine. IIRC the knock sensor engine harness side connector is pass side.

This thread is timely as my daughter and I'll be putting the intake manifold back on this weekend. Looking fwd to the pics!

The wires should be routed to the passenger side of the upper idler pulley bracket. The wires don't get pinched, at least not there. The intake manifold doesn't come in tight contact with that idler pulley bracket. There's actually a foam strip around the bracket to help keep debris or whatever entering the valley between the heads. The wire is then routed towards the driver side, up and over the upper water neck and then connected to the harness.

sort of like that. My trick was to "wiggle the wiring" while setting the manifold down, its found its "spot".
